Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Job Description

Pocatello Valley Montessori School is looking for an assistant for our Preschool and Toddler classes for the 2026-27 school year (August -May). Applicants must be available Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:15am-3:30pm Monday-Friday). Holidays, fall break, winter break, and spring break off, in align with the school district.

Job duties range from organizing materials and cleaning the workspace to facilitating the learning process for each child. All assistants are expected to embrace the Montessori teaching method (on-the-job training). Specifically, they must help guide the child through self-directed activities, allowing the child to develop at his or her own pace. They are expected to foster, along with the lead teacher, a nurturing and stimulating, non-competitive environment and willing to implement Positive Discipline methods.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Ensure proper check-in and check-out procedures for students
Assist with snack, lunch, and recess times
Guide learning activities

Helping students with bathroom and diapering needs
Clean and reset the classroom and lunch areas
Follow guidelines for safety and proper sanitation of various items and the classroom

Qualifications:

Childcare experience with good references
High school diploma

Reliable in being on time

Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a childcare license and CPR/First aid certification ( fees are reimbursable by the school)
Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents
Must be able to provide quality and nurturing care to all children enrolled in the program
Must be able to fulfill responsibilities as laid out in employee contract

Job Type: Part-time and Full-time positions available

Salary: Starting at $12.00 /hour

Pay: $12.00 - $13.50 per hour
