As an Economist II you will be a part of PNC's Economics organization. This is a hybrid position which provides flexibility to work both in the office and remotely and can be based in Pittsburgh, PA or another location within the PNC Footprint. Certain job responsibilities may require time in the office on a regular basis. Five plus years of direct experience is required. Well versed in econometrics, statistical tools, and presentations. Bachelors or Masters in Economics is preferred. Job Description Focuses on the data and analytics of economic and financial conditions, including forecasting and computer modeling to be used to communicate to internal and external audiences. Using independent discretion on data points, analyzes national, regional, financial and industry economic conditions and prospects. Based on independent analysis, communicates economic and financial conditions through written reports and presentations, including to senior leadership. Develops and maintains computer economic and financial models. Develops and maintains specialized economic and financial databases. Forecasts economic and financial concepts. Provides economic and financial analysis to the media. Global Economic Analysis (GEA) – Knowledge of and ability to investigate global economic activities, analyze economic performance worldwide, and prepare written reports to assist in further predictions and recommendations for organizational or government authorities. Investment Risk Economics and Finance – Knowledge of economic and financial principles/theories and ability to apply them to risk management, measurement, monitoring, and reporting. Investments – Knowledge of the investments business and ability to analyze and evaluate asset types, market and industry trends, major issues, and regulatory considerations. Market Risk – Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques used for analyzing market risk; ability to assess and manage investment exposures to market risk. Public Relations – Knowledge of organizational practices and considerations for communicating in the public arena, from the community to global public relations (PR); the ability to communicate to various forms of media outlets effectively and establish favorable public relations. Statistics and Actuarial Modeling – Knowledge of statistical and actuarial tools and techniques and ability to apply modeling processes and techniques to facilitate risk management decisions. Work Experience Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5 years of industry-relevant experience. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
