What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Assistant position at PMP Fermentation Products, Inc.?
PMP Fermentation Products, Inc. is a manufacturer of high quality technical and food grade chemicals. We have an opening for an Quality Assurance Assistant.
This position assists the Quality Assurance Manager to maintain our Quality Management System (QMS) and Food Safety System (FSS), as well as, safeguards products and services meet or exceed customer expectations while providing a basis for continual improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists with the oversight of the QMS and FSS and ensuring compliance with FSSC 22000 requirements and oversight of the ISO 9000 system, which includes:
- Overseeing the HACCP program for all products.
- Reviewing, updating, and maintaining each hazard analysis connected with the FSS, and providing an update on each hazard analysis to the Food Safety Team.
- Coordinating with the Food Safety Team Leader and conducting periodic meetings with the Food Safety Team.
- FSS and ISO 9001 document control programs
- Internal audits and driving corrective action(s) based on findings
- Complaint resolution, including reporting results internally and externally of PMP
Responsible to ensure compliance with government agency rules, regulations, and laws.
Assists with implementing new quality systems and demand improvement of current quality systems where warranted.
Assists with ensuring requirements for the Kosher and Halal certifications, as well as any other certifications required by our customers are met and maintained.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field.
- Advanced scientific writing skills.
- Experience with ISO 9001 and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) regulations.
- A Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification is required; training for certification can be provided if not currently held.
- Knowledge of HACCP, HARCP, and Hazard Analysis.
- Knowledge of FDA and other regulatory agency rules and procedures as they relate to this position.
- Knowledge of Kosher and Halal requirements.
- Previous lab experience or manufacturing setting is preferred, including experience in the fermentation process is also preferred.
- Previous quality assurance experience in a clinical, manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment is preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
