About The Role
As a Recovery Intern at PMMC, you will play a crucial role in the dynamic field of healthcare finance. You will be responsible for meticulously analyzing and assisting in the recovery of underpaid accounts on behalf of our clients from health insurance payers. This role involves gaining a deep understanding of payer policies, effective communication with payers across the country, and the determination to ensure claims are fully resolved and properly paid. To excel in this position, you will need to build strong relationships with payers, learn contract interpretation, and skillfully assist in conveying underpaid variances to the payer.
Successful Recovery Interns are analytical, organized, persuasive, and proactive individuals who thrive in the ever-evolving world of healthcare finance.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in establishing and maintaining open lines of communication with PMMC's Internal Recovery Department.
- Assist in crafting and submitting appeal/reconsideration letters to address payer concerns when appropriate.
- Conduct consistent follow-ups with payers to help ensure the prompt resolution of each claim.
- Assist in meeting or exceeding established production goals, demonstrating your dedication and expertise.
- Collaborate with the Recovery Analysts and provide feedback to enhance the quality of potentially underpaid accounts.
- Be prepared for other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the management team.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Enrollment in a degree program at a college or university.
- Interest in healthcare finance and a willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in navigating payer contracts, facility billing, and medical terminology (training will be provided).
- A desire to gain experience in billing and collections.
- Interest in understanding healthcare terminology to assist in assessing claims and discrepancies.
- Proficiency in researching payer policies, regulations, and industry guidelines (training will be provided).
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications.
- The ability to communicate professionally at a high level.
