What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Operator position at PMG Indiana Corporation?
The Production Operator is responsible for performing daily manufacturing, inspection, and packaging of powder metal products. This includes processes such as ID grinding, horizontal and vertical double-disc grinding, centerless grinding, assembly, carburization, and steam treatment. Operators play a vital role in ensuring product quality, safe operation, and efficient production flow.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety
- Follow all plant safety policies and procedures
- Promote safe practices and support training other personnel
Production
- Load and unload process lines as needed
- Complete required paperwork including POS, SPC charts, Time Matrix, and Tags
- Review work instructions and process sheets daily to ensure compliance
- Package part per customer specifications and internal requirements
Quality
- Perform checks as required using gauges, destructive testing devices, and measurement tools.
- Inspect parts for imperfections, dimensional inconsistencies, or contamination
- Remove defective products from production flow as required
Teamwork & Collaboration
- Communicate with team members, lead operators, and management to support production goals
- Lead by example in professionalism and support of company policies
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for cost control, efficiency, and process improvement
- Participate in TPM and continuous improvement teams
