Shift Supervisor

Parkville Market is seeking a responsible, organized, and hands-on Shift Supervisor to oversee daily market operations and help ensure a smooth, safe, and professional experience for vendors, staff, and guests.
The Shift Supervisor serves as the on-site operational lead during their shift and is the primary point of contact for vendors, bar staff, security, and cleaning teams when management is not present. This position combines floor supervision, cash handling, vendor oversight, building operations, team coordination, and customer service.
The position is approximately 25–30 hours per week, with coverage divided between day and night shifts and availability required across operating hours, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily market operations and serve as the on-site point of contact for vendors, employees, security, cleaning staff, and guests.
  
• Supervise and coordinate the Security Team, including positioning and confirming required patrols and rounds are completed.
  
• Direct cleaning staff priorities based on building needs, guest traffic, and events.
  
• Provide operational support to bar staff and assist with bar opening and closing responsibilities when needed.
  
• Count, prepare, distribute, and reconcile cash drawers for bars and event spaces.
  
• Manage petty cash, bar change, cash logs, and end-of-day drawer reconciliation.
  
• Run Square POS end-of-day reports and assist with closing registers, handheld devices, and cash drawers.
  
• Maintain required cash and tip records.
  
• Conduct regular floor walks and monitor overall market operations.
  
• Check in with and supervise vendors throughout the shift.
  
• Monitor vendor compliance with market policies related to cleanliness, deliveries, food safety, uniforms, signage, garbage/recycling, and general stall operations.
  
• Assist vendors and guests with concerns and resolve routine operational issues when possible.
  
• Identify issues requiring management involvement and communicate them promptly.
  
• Troubleshoot basic Square POS, printer, and other operational equipment issues and escalate larger equipment problems to management.
  
• Monitor cameras at the beginning of the shift and report any issues or discrepancies.
  
• Carry a charged walkie-talkie and maintain communication with Security, bar staff, cleaning staff, and management throughout the shift.
  
• Manage or assist with the Parkville Market email inbox, phone, voicemail, and operational communications.
  
• Document important shift notes, operational updates, and schedule changes.
  
• Send an end-of-shift report summarizing observations, vendor issues, cash discrepancies, concerns, and items requiring follow-up.

The internal role documents specifically identify Square, Google Drive, 7Shifts, Gmail, Spotify/Sonos, camera systems, and radios as tools used in the position.
  

Schedule
Approximately 25–30 hours per week. Candidates should have flexibility to work both day and night shifts, including weekends, depending on operational needs.
