Groundsman – Tree Work / Arboriculture

Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Groundman to join our tree care crew. The Groundman plays a key support role to climbers and equipment operators, assisting with all ground-level operations during tree pruning, removals, and site clean-up. This position requires strong communication skills, physical stamina, and a commitment to safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist climbers and bucket operators by managing ropes, rigging, and tools
• Operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, blowers, and rigging devices
• Safely load, chip, and dispose of brush, limbs, and logs
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free worksite
• Perform basic tree care tasks under supervision, including cutting, dragging brush, and stump area cleanup
• Inspect and maintain equipment daily to ensure safe operation
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and industry best practices
• Communicate effectively with the crew to support efficient job flow
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients on site

Qualifications

• Experience in tree work or landscaping preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work in demanding outdoor conditions
• Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
• Basic understanding of chainsaw operation and job-site safety
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and teamwork skills

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Knowledge of arborist knots and rope handling
• Rigging experience
• Mechanical aptitude for simple equipment maintenance
• First Aid/CPR or tree-industry safety certifications
