Plant Manager – Multi-Technology Power Generation Facility

Hubbard, TX (On-Site)

Summary

A leading power generation organization is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead the commissioning, startup, and long-term operation of a large-scale natural gas-fired generation facility. The site features multiple generation technologies, including combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, and battery energy storage assets.

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing facility during a critical phase of development and play a key role in building the operational culture, staffing strategy, and long-term performance of the plant.

Position Overview

The Plant Manager will be responsible for overall facility performance, including safety, operations, maintenance, environmental compliance, staffing, budgeting, outage management, and commercial obligations.

This individual will provide leadership during commissioning activities and transition the facility into safe, reliable commercial operation.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Startup

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop plant operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Establish qualification, certification, and training programs.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities across combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems, and balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Coordinate activities with engineering teams, contractors, OEMs, and project stakeholders.
  • Develop operating procedures, emergency response plans, and maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure commissioning documentation, compliance requirements, and operational readiness objectives are achieved.

Plant Operations Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction for all plant personnel.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards and procedures.
  • Oversee operations, maintenance, environmental, training, compliance, and administrative programs.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, expenditures, procurement activities, and vendor relationships.
  • Direct planned and forced outage activities to maximize reliability and availability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to plant performance, reliability, safety, and cost control.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with ownership groups, contractors, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders.
  • Administer Management of Change (MOC) processes and operational governance programs.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in power generation operations and maintenance leadership.
  • Prior Plant Manager experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-unit or multi-technology generating facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of gas-fired generation technologies, plant operations, maintenance planning, outage management, and reliability programs.
  • Demonstrated success leading technical, supervisory, and hourly personnel.
  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Proven ability to build teams, develop personnel, and drive operational excellence.
  • Thorough understanding of environmental compliance, safety programs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent industry or military experience will be considered.

Additional Information

This position requires regular onsite leadership presence and occasional extended hours during outages, commissioning activities, and plant events. Limited travel may be required.

Pay: $210,000.00 - $245,000.00 per year
