Role Description This contract Controls Engineer role is an on-site position based in Holland, MI. The Controls Engineer will design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, motion systems, and robotics to support automation projects from concept through commissioning. Daily responsibilities include developing control system architectures, configuring HMI/SCADA interfaces, performing system testing, and supporting integration and startup on the plant floor. The role also involves collaborating with project managers, mechanical and electrical engineers, and maintenance teams to ensure safe, reliable operation and compliance with customer and industry standards. Documentation of control logic, preparation of technical reports, and ongoing optimization of existing systems are key aspects of the position.

Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Process Control and Motion Control, including design, implementation, and optimization of industrial automation systems.
- Proficiency in Electrical Engineering principles as applied to control panels, wiring, safety circuits, and power distribution.
- Hands-on Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving issues in PLCs, drives, sensors, and field devices.
- Experience with Robotics, including programming, integration, and commissioning of robot cells in manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA platforms, and industrial communication protocols.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics and engineering documentation using relevant CAD and documentation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to safety, quality, and uptime in production settings.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams on-site.
- Relevant technical degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
