This Academic and Career Advisor position focuses heavily on career internships and developing COOP partnerships. It also assists with on and off campus student employment and programming. Additionally, the position will provide general academic and career advising, workshops and programming services to students and alumni in collaboration with a career advisor, the Academic & Career Advising Center team, faculty, staff and Alumni Relations.

Compensation Pay Range
$41,890.00 - $74,390.00

Duties/Responsibilities
Career Advising, Fairs, Presentations & Workshops (50%)
- Provide career and academic advising services to students and alumni on all career related topics (resumes, cover letters, internships, LinkedIn profiles, career search, etc.) .
- Conduct classroom presentations for the Career in the Classroom program connecting and educating over a thousand students each year on career-related topics.
- Assist with multiple large-scale career fairs each year connecting hundreds of employers to PSU students.
- Assist with Career Fair marketing and logistics.
- Support the development and management of a COOP program in collaboration with Assistant Director of Career.
- Collaborate with the Office of Community Engagement and academic programs involved in COOP program.
- Develop training, programming and educational materials for employers, faculty and students on internships.
- Help to develop a centralized internship repository for current and past internship sites .
- Assist with internship placement, paperwork and other processes.
- Help monitor Handshake (job, internship and career resources platform).
- Social media and marketing engagement and initiatives.
- Assist with data gathering for the First Destination Survey.
- Market research on career trends.
- Represent ACAC at Accepted Student’s Days, Open Houses & misc. campus events.
- Work with students to find On-Campus & Off Campus Student Employment Opportunities.
- Cross-train on academic advising.
- Bachelor’s degree required in higher education, human resources, program administration or related field.
- Strong project and program management experience.
- Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to effectively partner with key stakeholders.
- Experience coaching and advising students.
- Strong verbal and written communication and public speaking skills.
- Advising and career development knowledge and skills.
- Program/workshop development and facilitation experience.
- Proficiency with various technology platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, student database software and other educational technology tools.
- Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of two years of experience in career development .
- Experience in college/university academic advising or career development office.
