Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide one-on-one personal training support to residents of Plymouth Harbor. The Health & Fitness Trainer also supports the Director of Wellness & Programming in all aspects of health and fitness programming and services for the community, as well as manages the daily operations and upkeep of the Wellness Center.
Schedule: Monday - Friday between 8am - 5pm; We will set the schedule as part-time initially, starting with 3 days per week (around 24 hours).
While the position is intended to transition into full-time, initial hours will gradually increase as the caseload grows. Flexibility during this ramp-up period is important. If full-time hours are needed immediately, there may be opportunities to support other areas within PH until a full caseload is established.
Essential Functions
- Conduct one-on-one personal training sessions focused on strength, balance, flexibility, cardiovascular health, and overall functional fitness.
- Perform fitness assessments to evaluate residents’ physical abilities, health history, and fitness goals, and develop individualized training programs.
- Educate residents on proper form, injury prevention, and holistic wellness principles.
- Collaborate with the Director of Wellness & Programming to support community-wide health initiatives, special programs, and resident wellness events.
- Lead group fitness classes as needed for coverage.
- Ensure the upkeep and daily operations of the Wellness Center and its amenities, including cleaning, organizing, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct equipment orientations and provide daily assistance on the fitness floor.
- Research wellness education topics of interest and identify appropriate resident and/or staff educational materials as requested.
- Perform administrative duties, including organizing and maintaining client files, contractor logs, and distributing resident and staff communications.
- Maintain a welcoming, professional, and polished presence consistent with the standards of a luxury living environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through a nationally accredited organization (ACSM, NASM, ACE, or ISSA) required.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Wellness, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum one year of experience working with older adults or in senior wellness preferred.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate fitness programming, adaptive exercises, and injury prevention required.
• Background or certification in group fitness, yoga, or aquatic exercise preferred.
• Experience in wellness resorts, luxury hospitality, or upscale residential communities preferred.
• Experience working with dementia/Alzheimer’s clients or those with Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, or other chronic conditions is a plus.

• Must be fluent in English.
• Must be proficient with computers and able to learn and use proprietary software as required.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license.
- Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through a nationally accredited organization (ACSM, NASM, ACE, or ISSA) required.
- BLS/CPR/AED certification required.
