What are the responsibilities and job description for the Land Records Assistant position at Plymouth County Registry of Deeds?
Responsibilities:
- Make clear and legible copies of land records for the public
- Scan plans into Registry database thereby making clear and legible images to be viewed by the public.
- To meter and mail all processed recordings.
- To certify copies as requested.
- To notarize documents as requested.
- To provide back-up coverage for receptionist/switchboard operator.
- To calculate and collect copy fees; operate point-of-sale register.
- To assist the public with questions related to copies, location of record books, questions of a general nature regarding Registry procedures, and the use of computer terminals.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Ability to work independently

- Excellent telephone manners
- Ability to stand in one place for long periods of time
- Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time
- Cognitive ability required to learn specific scanning procedures.
- Ability to balance several projects at a time, i.e. copying documents, scanning documents, processing mail orders, etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to work independently
- Must be patient, friendly and courteous to the public
Education:
- High school diploma required
- Some college preferred
