Plushumi The Plushie Workshop is a women-owned AAPI business that offers a unique, hands-on crafting experience where participants of all ages create plushies from scratch. We teach the art of knitting stuffed animals, helping our guests turn a ball of yarn into a cherished plushie. Our workshops provide a fun, creative environment that promotes bonding and creativity.
Job Description:
We are seeking an energetic and positive Part-Time Workshop Assistant to help facilitate our plushie-making workshops. You will work closely with customers, assisting them in creating their plushies while ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. This role involves both customer service and operational tasks, and no prior knitting, crocheting, or sewing experience is required—just a love for crafting and helping others!
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers with a friendly, welcoming attitude
- Answer phones and provide information about workshops and services
- Assist in teaching workshops, guiding participants through the plushie-making process
- Teach participants sewing and knitting techniques
- Manage yarn and accessory inventory, including handling and moving yarn boxes
- Operate our Square terminal to process accessory sales
- Help maintain a clean and organized workshop space
- Provide support to customers of all ages, including children as young as 7 years old
- Ensure all customers have a memorable, creative experience from start to finish
Qualifications:
- Outgoing, ambitious, and success-oriented attitude
- Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to engage with customers of all ages
- Positive, friendly, and energetic demeanor
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, creative environment
- A passion for crafting and creating experiences for others (no experience required, but an interest in crafting is preferred)
- Ability to work well with children; experience working with kids is a plus
- Must be available on weekends
- Must be at least 18 years of age
