Plunge San Diego, located in Mission Beach, is an iconic swimming pool that has been a San Diego community icon since 1925. After a five-year restoration project, the historic swimming pool is now a state-of-the-art attraction featuring floor-to-ceiling glass walls that offer stunning ocean views. With a retractable roof, the pool provides a climate-controlled environment and is open year-round. The pool includes seven lap swim lanes, a shallow area with a giant floating obstacle course, sauna, locker rooms, and hot showers. Plunge San Diego is known to be one of the largest heated public pools in southern California, making it a popular destination for friends and family to enjoy a day by the beach. Plunge San Diego is home to San Diego Adventure Camp, a camp designed with enrichment activities for children ages 5-12.
Role Description
Under the supervision of the Day Camp Management Team, the Day Camp Staff is responsible for the supervision of 5-10 children ages 5-12 throughout the camp day while developing positive relationships in a safe outside environment. The Day Camp Staff will assist in facilitating the whole group of up to 100 campers within proper ratios. The assignments and hours for this position are based on camp enrollment. This position will contribute to the overall mission of Plunge San Diego to offer innovative programs promoting health and wellness.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old and have completed high school or the equivalent.
- Must pass a required background check prior to working with children.
- Must be able to work through the end of August 2026.
Essential Functions
- Connect with program participants, families, and other Plunge personnel in a positive and caring manner.
- Demonstrate the seven core values of Ownership, Professionalism, Legacy, Unity, Neighborly, Genuine and Enthusiasm in all aspects of Plunge work.
- Supervise and engage children with enriching and educational activities in a fun and safe environment 100% of the camp day.
- Maintain appropriate adult-to-child ratios by arriving to work on time and well-prepared.
- Keep accurate daily attendance records and communication with the team.
- Maintain a professional, clean, neat, organized, and safe camp atmosphere.
- Attend pre-camp training and meetings.
- Follow all Plunge San Diego and Fit Athletic policies and procedures.
- Support camp standards in different settings such as swimming and activities at Belmont Park.
- Perform other duties as assigned and requested.
