Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Dispatcher to work within our operations department. In this vital role, you will utilize transportation management systems, GPS technology, and data entry skills to schedule, track, and optimize logistics operations. Your strong communication skills and analysis abilities will ensure seamless dispatching processes that keep our operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate will oversee daily dispatch activities, ensuring timely and efficient services and deliveries. Duties
- Coordinate and oversee day-to-day dispatch activities, ensuring services and deliveries are timely and efficient.
- Assign drivers/vehicles to specific routes, ensuring appropriate resources are allocated based on capacity and customer specific requirements.
- Collaborate with the team to create and optimize routes, reducing fuel consumption and improving delivery/service time.
- Track vehicles in real-time, managing issues as they arise and ensuring smooth operations.
- Prepare, update, and dispense the daily route schedules.
- Report on driver performance concerns or issues to management for resolution.
- Perform administrative functions necessary in the daily operations.
- Other projects or duties as assigned.
Experience
- Prior experience with transportation planning, logistics coordination, or dispatching roles required.
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS technology, and transportation management systems is highly desirable.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data related to supply chain operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette to maintain dispatch relations with drivers and management in demanding situations.
- Proficient in data entry, Microsoft Office, Excel or related software.
- Knowledge of freight operations, shipping & receiving procedures, and fleet management practices is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently within multi-line phone systems while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
