What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Technician position at Plummer Forest Products?
Job responsibilities include inspecting and testing the quality of all incoming and outgoing material and product. This position inspects units for bad boards and dimensional tolerances, pulls reject boards; move units from the hot stacker to sander infeed, assists strapper forklift driver when needed, keep reject bin empty, feed bypass as soon as possible, dispose unusable boards, blow-down and clean up production line.
Schedule: 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM
Pay Range: $27.65 per hour DOE (nonexempt)
Responsibilities
· Inspect quality of raw materials and record supplier performance. Maintain records of testing, information and various metrics.
· Conduct product quality testing. Prepare and submit reports to the technical director.
· Blending and forming inspections:
o Check MC and particle size distribution on weigh belt.
o Check release concentration in mixing tank and spray bar.
o Inlet, outlet, and release spray bar: pressure, plug, and buildup, etc.
o Caul plate temperature.
o Mat rake and edge trim.
· Pressing inspections:
o Divot on boards out of press.
o Length, width, banana cut of board on hot stacker.
· Sanding and strapping inspections:
o Finished board quality check: board thickness, surface quality, blows, chatter, broken corners, marked boards, sniped board, and punky edges.
o Proper strapping of the units: sticker position, labeling, marking, etc.
· Shipping inspections:
o Damaged units.
o Truck loading and railcar loading.
o Tightening truck.
· Monitor the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and well maintained and communicate with maintenance personnel.
· Assist in production and maintenance as needed. Cross train with plant employees.
Job Skill Requirements

· Data entry skills with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Support root cause analysis (RCA) problem-solving efforts to eliminate repeated quality failures.
· Assist in evaluating and measuring vendor performance.
· Ability to work in a physically demanding work environment; including climbing, standing, kneeling, and heavy lifting.
· Working knowledge of forklifts, scissor lifts, manlifts, etc.
· Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays.
