Plumbing Pros is growing, and we are looking for a motivated plumbing apprentice to join our team.

You do not need to know everything about plumbing yet. We can teach the right person the technical skills required to succeed in the trade.

What we cannot teach is work ethic, honesty, reliability, personal responsibility, and the desire to become great at what you do.

We are not looking for someone who simply wants to collect a paycheck, do the minimum, and go home. We are looking for someone who wants to learn a valuable trade, increase their earning potential, and build a long-term career with a growing plumbing and HVAC company.

What You Will Learn

As a Plumbing Pros apprentice, you will work alongside experienced plumbing technicians and learn how to:

• Diagnose residential plumbing problems
• Repair and replace plumbing fixtures
• Install toilets, faucets, sinks, disposals, valves, and piping
• Install and service traditional and tankless water heaters
• Assist with drain cleaning and sewer repairs
• Work with copper, PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and other piping materials
• Properly use hand tools, power tools, drain equipment, and testing instruments
• Protect customers’ homes and maintain clean work areas
• Communicate professionally with customers
• Document jobs with notes, photographs, and material lists
• Follow plumbing codes, safety procedures, and company standards
• Understand how a professional service company operates
• Develop the technical and communication skills needed to eventually run service calls independently

There may also be opportunities to learn HVAC service and installation as the company continues to grow.

Previous HVAC experience is a plus but is not required.

Your Responsibilities

• Assist lead technicians with plumbing repairs and installations
• Follow the instructions of lead technicians and management
• Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials
• Prepare job sites and protect customers’ property
• Maintain clean and orderly job sites throughout the workday
• Clean and organize the company shop, warehouse, and office areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, remove trash, and clean common areas as assigned
• Clean office bathrooms, break areas, storage spaces, and other company areas when assigned
• Break down boxes and properly dispose of packaging and job debris
• Stock shelves and organize plumbing materials, parts, and supplies
• Return tools, equipment, and materials to their proper locations
• Help receive, inspect, and organize company deliveries
• Identify low inventory and notify management when materials need to be reordered
• Clean, stock, and organize company vehicles
• Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe, and working condition
• Safely use ladders, hand tools, and power tools
• Follow company safety requirements and operating procedures
• Complete assigned training and continuously improve your skills
• Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude
• Communicate immediately when you are unsure about a task
• Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning tools and equipment
• Treat customers, coworkers, company property, and customer property with care and respect
• Help complete every job correctly, efficiently, and safely
• Perform additional duties needed to support the daily operation of the company

Cleaning and organization are important parts of this position. Apprentices are expected to help maintain the shop, office, vehicles, tools, equipment, and work areas without needing to be repeatedly reminded.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to safely perform physical labor
• Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials
• Ability to work in basements, crawlspaces, attics, and outdoor conditions
• Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, dirty, and uncomfortable environments
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Professional attitude and communication skills
• Willingness to use mobile applications for scheduling, photographs, and job documentation
• Willingness to work occasional scheduled evenings or weekends
• Willingness to clean and organize company facilities, vehicles, and work areas
• Ability to pass all company hiring requirements

Previous plumbing, HVAC, construction, mechanical, maintenance, warehouse, or trade-school experience is helpful but not required for the right person.

• Believe that cleaning or organizing is beneath you
• Walk past trash, tools, or materials instead of putting them away
• Need to be repeatedly reminded to clean the shop, office, vehicles, or job sites
• Only want to perform certain plumbing tasks and are unwilling to help with daily company responsibilities
• Expect top pay before developing top-level skills
• Are only looking for a temporary job
• Frequently move from employer to employer
• Do not want to study, practice, and improve
• Believe that doing the minimum should produce maximum compensation
