Role Summary

This role serves as the primary client liaison after project handoff, responsible for building and maintaining strong, positive relationships, managing expectations, and striving to exceed client expectations to foster long-term loyalty and advocacy. The Project Manager is the bridge between field installation teams and management, requiring effective communication and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling:
· Assist with estimating/sales review to ensure budget, schedule, and scope feasibility.
· Develop preliminary project schedules, based on estimates, and detailed final construction schedules for project execution and management.
· Plan and conduct internal pre-construction hand-off meetings to review contracts, scope, budget, schedule, and installation methods with the Project Superintendent.
· Plan and conduct client pre-construction meetings to introduce the team, review schedules, site conditions, and expectations, ensuring minutes are documented.
· Ensure all necessary state/local permits and licenses are secured before work commences.
· Finalize project schedules with Superintendent input for effective field management.
· Ensure timely ordering and delivery scheduling for materials, equipment, and long-lead items.
· Plan for pre-installation safety audit and eliminate hazards prior to install.
Budget & Cost Management:
· Manage projects to meet or exceed budget requirements and gross profit (GP) targets.
· Monitor job cost reports closely, take necessary actions to control costs, and provide weekly job cost projection reports.
· Calculate percentage complete, earned value, and forecasted costs/GP for active projects.
· Work closely with finance to ensure continuous budget and cost updates reflect work changes, issue necessary budget adjustments.
· Review and approve vendor, supplier, and rental invoices based on work completed.
· Estimate, process, and secure written authorization for all change orders, ensuring they are included in subsequent client invoices.
Project Execution & Oversight:
· Coordinate effectively with all internal and external project stakeholders, including clients, vendors, site personnel, and internal PLS teams.
· Oversee and delegate internal project aspects including site presence, manpower coordination, materials, equipment, tooling, mobilization, scheduling, redlines, documentation, and demobilization.
· Conduct job site visits as needed to monitor progress, compliance, quality, and safety, revising schedules and overcoming obstacles as needed.
· Ensure Superintendents chair site meetings, when possible, while providing oversight and ensuring meeting minutes are documented and distributed.
· Maintain regular communication (minimum every other day) with Project Superintendents to review progress, obstacles, budget, schedule, quality, and safety.
· Direct and expedite all phases of project administration, acting as the authority on administrative decisions.
· Proactively identify and mitigate potential project problems.
· Assist with continuous inspections to achieve a zero-item punch list; document the final punch list with the client and obtain written sign-off.
Client Relationship Management:
· Act as the chief liaison with the client after initial handoff, ensuring clear and timely communication.
· Manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
· Prevent scope creep through proactive management and accurate change control.
· Document and communicate all delay notices to the client in writing, following contractual processes.
· Compile all necessary information for timely project notifications, client invoicing and final billings, including required closeout documentation.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
· Provide direction and support to Project Superintendents for successful project completion; address performance issues professionally and escalate as needed.
· Achieve goals through teamwork, fostering a collaborative environment consistent with PLS culture.
· Promote PLS core values and culture through actions and leadership.
· Mentor and develop others within the organization.
· Participate actively in weekly Manpower Meetings and monthly Continuous Improvement Program Meetings.
· · Plan and conduct post-construction reviews with Superintendents to identify lessons learned (successes and areas for improvement) for future projects.
Administration & Reporting:
· Follow all company procedures.
· Maintain accurate project documentation.
· Provide regular project reports, including updates on % complete, earned value, forecasted GP, change orders, delays, safety, schedule, and manpower.
Qualifications / Key Skills:
· Proven experience in project management within a relevant industry.
· Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, schedules, and budgets effectively.
· Strong ability to identify potential problems and implement preventative/mitigation strategies.
· Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational, forecasting, and scheduling skills.
· Proficiency in conflict management and problem-solving.
· Experience in team management with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
· Commitment to upholding high standards of quality and safety.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Microsoft Project.
· A mechanical or electrical background is preferred.
