ACTIVITY ASSISTANT

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respect residents privacy, confidentiality, dignity, rights at all times.
• Assist with planning and organizing of activities such as bringing new ideas, purchase of supplies, baking, cooking, preparing for and leading activities, etc.
• Assist with evaluating activities by recording attendance, quality of residents time, improvements to be made etc.
• Assist with documentation and record keeping as assigned.
• Asist with care planning process as delegated and assigned including the assessing, writing progress notes, etc. under the counsel and supervision of the Activity Director.
• Work with residents of varying physical, emotional and mental abilities.
• Inform, remind, and encourage residents to participate in activity programming through various methods IE: calendar, room to room reminders, personal invitations, etc.
• Attend regular meetings within the department to keep up with happenings within in the department.
• Work evenings and weekends as assigned.
• Perform and assist with other duties assigned by Activity Coordinator.

• Have the capacity for organized thoughtful expression and use various resources.
• Effectively and efficiently use computer programs (Microsoft Office) and office machines (computer, fax, copier, phone, calculator, etc.).
• Work independently, collaborate with the team/department and interact with other departments in a professional manner.
• Work well with residents of varying physical, mental, and emotional status.
• Be enthusiastic and cheerful approach with others, as well as patience and empathy.
• Have the ability to follow directions and carry out assignments.
• Be willing to learn and try new things.
• Have the ability to work independently as well as with other staff members.
• Be comfortable leading small and large group activities as well as interacting on a one-to-one basis.
• Have the ability to cooperate and communicate with others (staff and residents and families).
• Be able to make day to day decisions.
• Understand and have a strict adherence to confidentiality.
• Have good organization skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Professional office environment
• Regularly requires work outdoors, and in various community locations.
• Most of the day involves sitting, standing, walking, and movement.
• Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to push wheelchairs, do moderate lifting, and be able to perform moderately strenuous activities.
• Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as extra hours in the evenings, weekends, etc.
