Pleasant Valley Play Garden is seeking a warm, experienced, and fully qualified Preschool Director to lead our nature-based, play-centered early childhood program. Our program is inspired by the philosophies of Reggio Emilia and Waldorf education, with a strong focus on social-emotional development, outdoor exploration, creativity, and respectful relationships.
We are looking for a nurturing leader who deeply values childhood, understands developmentally appropriate practices, and can guide both children and teachers with warmth, professionalism, and intention.

At Pleasant Valley Play Garden, children spend the majority of their mornings outdoors exploring nature, engaging in imaginative play, caring for animals and gardens, creating art, and building meaningful social connections. Position Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the preschool program
- Ensure compliance with California Community Care Licensing regulations
- Support, mentor, and guide teaching staff
- Build strong, respectful relationships with families
- Maintain a peaceful, organized, and nurturing school environment
- Assist with enrollment, tours, and community outreach
- Foster a strong program rhythm inspired by Waldorf and Reggio philosophies
- Support curriculum planning rooted in play, nature, creativity, and social-emotional development
- Ensure health, safety, and supervision standards are consistently maintained
Qualifications
- Fully qualified Preschool Director under California Title 22 requirements
- Minimum 12 ECE units plus administrative coursework required
- Director experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of child development and licensing regulations
- Experience in Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, nature-based, or play-based education preferred
- Warm, collaborative, and calm leadership style
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain prior to start)

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
