Child Therapist

Pleasant Psychology
Mount Pleasant, MI Full Time
POSTED ON 7/24/2026 CLOSED ON 8/13/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Therapist position at Pleasant Psychology?

Join a child-focused private practice where you can do your best clinical work.

We are seeking a compassionate Child Therapist to join our growing multidisciplinary team. This is a full-time, salaried W-2 position that offers competitive pay, benefits, and the opportunity to expand your skills and work with engaged families that want your expertise.

Pleasant Psychology provides mental health services to kids and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, challenging behaviors, social difficulties, and family stressors. Our practice grew from a desire to support families before concerns become serious problems. We believe in empowering families, supporting our community, and taking care of our team.

Whether your passion is helping kids work through worries, teaching parents how to handle those challenging behaviors, supporting neurodiverse kids and teens, and guiding families through hard situations, we’d love to hear from you.

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
  • Fully licensed in Michigan (LPC, LMSW, LLP, LP)
  • Experience providing evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents
  • Training in CBT, PCIT, ERP, play therapy, TF-CBT, or similar approaches
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills

What We Offer

  • W-2 employment with consistent, predictable income
  • Competitive full-time salary starting from $65,000 per year based on degree level, licensure, and experience
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Medical insurance contribution
  • 401(k) match up to 3%
  • Paid professional development, CEU opportunities, and ongoing consultation
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Fully furnished office space and play therapy rooms designed for children and families
  • Reasonable productivity expectations that prioritize high-quality care and therapist wellbeing
  • Flexibility to build a schedule that works for you and your clients, typically M-F with one evening per week

We intentionally use a salaried W-2 model because we believe therapists provide the best care when they have financial stability, predictable income, paid time off, and a healthy work-life balance. Our therapists don't have to compete for referrals or worry about cancellations affecting their paycheck. Instead, our administrative team handles intake scheduling, billing, and insurance so therapists can focus on providing exceptional care to children and families.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and family therapy to children and adolescents using evidence-based, engaging approaches (approximately 25 client hours per week)
  • Collaborate closely with parents and caregivers who want your support and expertise
  • Facilitate group therapy programs aligned with your clinical interests
  • Complete clinical documentation with reasonable deadlines
  • Coordinate with schools and other providers when appropriate
  • Participate in consultation, supervision, and collaboration with our team of therapists, psychologists, and psychiatric providers
  • Maintain ethical, professional, and licensing standards

This position may be a great fit if you...

  • Want the stability of a salaried W-2 position rather than a fee-split model
  • Enjoy partnering with motivated parents and caregivers
  • Value consultation and support when cases feel complex
  • Are looking for long-term growth in a healthy, well-run practice
  • Want to deepen your clinical skills and niche down
  • Want to work somewhere that values both excellent clinical care and therapist wellbeing

Pay: $65,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • 401(k) matching
  • Flexible schedule
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Paid time off

Work Location: In person

Salary : $65,000
