Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Administer medications and treatments following prescribed protocols while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards
- Support residents with specialized care needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, and medication administration
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Collaborate with nursing staff to report changes in resident conditions promptly and assist with care planning
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control procedures and safety protocols for Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, hospice, and senior care settings
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals or home & community care environments is highly desirable
- Familiarity with medical documentation systems such as Epic or Cerner is preferred
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and patient care practices related to elderly or disabled populations is essential
- Hands-on experience with medical procedures including vital signs measurement, tube feeding assistance, catheter care, and medication administration
- Background working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s care enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to coordinate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
