The Director of Golf is responsible for the Pleasant Point Golf Course Inc.’s (“Golf Course Inc.”) leadership, administration, operations, and membership growth. This role drives success by developing and implementing effective business strategies, ensuring member satisfaction, and fostering a positive work environment. The Director of Golf is accountable for achieving financial and operational goals, building a strong leadership team, and maintaining effecting communication with the Pleasant Point Property Owner’s Association Board of Directors (POA Board).
Experienced Required:
Bachelor’s with at least 2 years in Golf club management, hospitality, or related field. A minimum of 3 years of proven ability in managing budgets and ability to make sound judgements in expense allocation to impact profitability.
Qualifications:
PGA Member of Associate preferred or Club Management Association of America member.
· Proven experience in golf course management.
· Familiarity with cash handling procedures and experience using POS systems (Golfnow)
· Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
· Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to enhancing guest experiences.
· Proficient in budgeting, inventory control, and financial reporting
· Ability to work flexible hours, including night, weekends, and holidays as needed.
· Facilities and equipment management oversight
· Recruit, train, motivate and supervise all Golf Course Inc. personnel, fostering a culture of exceptional service teamwork and guest satisfaction.
· Ensure the Pro Shop maintains optimum stock levels to include clothing, merchandise, food, and beverage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ability to deliver great golf experience, positive financial results, and foster an environment of ideal golf course conditions and golf course event programming.
· Administers Golf Course Inc. policies, procedures and the strategic plan with close alignment of the POA Board’s vision, adherence to legal and ethical standards, and effective coordination across all Golf Course Inc. functions to ensure smooth, compliant, and guest-focused operations.
· Able to effectively lead with enthusiasm, poise, and positive energy to foster team development and positive Golf Course Inc. culture.
· Can regularly and effectively communicate to all stakeholders of Golf Course Inc.
· Participate and/or lead in Golf Course Inc. governance activities to include but not limited to all members/employee, and POA Board.
· Directly manages Pro Shop, and the rounds staff through the Grounds Superintendent.
· Attends selected PGA conferences, merchandise shows, workshops, and meetings as needed to keep abreast of current information and developments in the industry.
· Develop and execute comprehensive business and financial plans/budgets for the Golf Course Inc.
· Regularly monitor and timely report to the POA Board financial and performance metrics against these plans/budgets to ensure revenue and expense targets are achieved across all operational areas, making data-driven adjustments as necessary to optimize performance and business results.
· Provide strategic leadership to maintenance and inside staff on all operational matters across key areas including Agronomy, facilities, golf operations, guest experience, and sales.
· Recruit, select, develop, continually evaluate all Golf Course Inc. staff and contractors.
· Implement sales, marketing, and revenue strategies aligned with financial plans/budgets, regularly reviewing and adjusting these strategies to optimize overall performance.
· Maintain effective expense control systems and forecasting procedures to monitor and manage Golf Course Inc. expenses and revenue-to-payroll ratios.
· Manage member retention metrics and develop targets strategies to enhance retention while attracting new members.
· Manage media, marketing, and social accounts to promote Golf Course Inc. to the surrounding community and beyond.
· Manage course access, coordinate with youth coaches, and schedule on-course orientations and tournaments for First Tee of the Lowcountry, it’s directors and site coordinators.
Position Details:
· Position is full-time and year-round.
· Salary range is $65,000 to $75,000, annually based on experience and qualifications. Performance bonus based on mutually agreed upon objectives.
· Position reports directly to the President of the Pleasant Point POA Board of Directors.
Benefits:
· Up to 2 weeks’ vacation after one year of employment.
