Paraprofessional Educator

Job Summary
Assist teachers in providing instructional, behavioral, and personal support to students in general education and special education settings. Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment while supporting student achievement and implementation of educational plans.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Instructional Support

• Assist teachers with classroom instruction and learning activities.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce concepts taught by the teacher.
• Help implement accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, or other educational needs.
• Prepare instructional materials, learning aids, and classroom resources.
• Collect and record student performance data as directed.

Student Support

• Provide academic, social, and behavioral assistance to students.
• Assist students with organization, assignments, and classroom participation.
• Support students during transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and other school activities.
• Encourage positive behavior and reinforce classroom expectations.

Classroom and Administrative Duties

• Maintain classroom organization and instructional materials.
• Assist with attendance records, grading, filing, and data entry.
• Monitor student behavior in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and buses.
• Participate in meetings, training, and professional development activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must meet Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) paraprofessional requirements and hold the appropriate paraprofessional approval, endorsement, or license as required by the position.
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and families.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
