Seasonal Farm Market Associate (Full-Time / Part-Time)

Position Overview
As a Seasonal Farm Market Associate, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming shopping experience for our customers. You will help maintain an organized, well-stocked market, provide excellent customer service, and assist guests with their purchases while representing the values of Pleasant Hill Farm & Produce.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Stock shelves and displays with fresh produce, meats, dairy products, baked goods, jams, honey, and other locally sourced products.
- Rotate inventory and ensure displays remain full, clean, and visually appealing throughout the day.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and process electronic payments accurately.
- Develop a basic understanding of the products we sell, including where they come from, how they are produced, and common cooking or storage recommendations.
- Answer customer questions and help shoppers locate products.
- Assist customers by carrying purchases to their vehicles when needed.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the market by sweeping floors, wiping counters, organizing displays, and keeping work areas clean.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to management.
- Help unload, organize, and stock deliveries from the farm and local vendors.
- Assist with seasonal displays, signage, and merchandising.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily market operations.
Qualifications
- Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn about farm products and confidently answer customer questions.
- Comfortable using a tablet or touchscreen point-of-sale system.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and stock shelves throughout the day.
- Ability to move produce boxes, coolers, and merchandise safely.
- Comfortable working in a climate-controlled, air-conditioned farm market.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, grocery, or a farmers market is preferred but not required.
- Experience with electronic point-of-sale systems is a plus.
- Interest in agriculture, gardening, local food, or farming is encouraged.
Schedule
- Seasonal employment (approximately May through October)
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Market hours are Tuesday through Saturday
- Applicants should be available to work a flexible schedule during operating hours, including Fridays and Saturdays.
