Library Page

Wage: $10.85 / hour

Anticipated 10 hours per week.

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Library Pages are an essential part of the Pleasant Grove Library. General responsibilities of Library Pages include sorting, straightening, and shelving books and other library materials. The Library Page works under the direction of the page supervisor.

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

• Shelve all assigned library items accurately and quickly.
• Shift items on shelves to maintain even item distribution.
• Shelf reading to monitor the collection for accurate placement of materials.
• Keep items on shelves pulled forward and neat.
• Answer patrons' basic location questions for material and services and refers patrons to appropriate staff for more complex questions or service needs.
• Transports materials to stacks or shelving areas by hand carry or using wheeled cart.
• Empties book drop as needed or assigned.
• Participates in meetings and staff training, and follows library rules/guidelines.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• No education requirement, but must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

Experience:

• Prior experience a plus, but not required.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet, with the ability to assist patrons with computers, tablets and phones.
• Familiar with Book Industry Standards and Communications (BISAC)

Skills/Abilities

• Must know how to alphabetize and categorize quickly and accurately.
• Must be comfortable working alone for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to bend and stoop and reach high places.
• Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when required
• Must be able to understand and carry out instructions in written and verbal format
• Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
