Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, and general dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are strictly followed.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using Open Dental, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions in clear, understandable language.
- Support front desk operations by handling dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient flow.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure all clinical areas are sanitized according to HIPAA regulations and OSHA guidelines.
Skills
- Proficiency with ortho procedures to include taking digital impressions with the iTero and other orthodontic procedures
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry as well as specialized fields like prosthodontics, endodontics, and orthodontics.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and accurately.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Understanding of orthodontic dentistry principles to support our orthodontist and other doctors
