The Quality Assurance Auditor will focus on broad issues that govern quality at Plaza. This position is responsible for auditing and re-underwriting loan files to ensure all loans meet the standards established by the company, investors, and regulators. This role is full-time and non-exempt. This position has no supervisory responsibilities, and this position reports to John Geraventa, VP of Quality Assurance and Control.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Review file documentation to ensure that the underwriter’s decision for approval meets all guidelines and supports delivery of an eligible loan with a final recommendation on the review.
- Review to include recommendations on the submitting broker / correspondent lender and tracking of defects.
- Validate loan application, disclosures, credit, liabilities, income, asset documentation, purchase contract, title appraisal, and AUS findings using various web-based tools.
- Review and investigate red flags, alleged misrepresentation, alleged fraudulent findings, signature irregularities, and missing or incomplete documentation which potentially effects the salability of the loan.
- Complete an audit summary of findings to include pertinent loan information, defects, inaccuracies, compliance concerns, red flags, and possible misrepresentations (undisclosed properties and liabilities, 3rd party originations, and NMLS defects).
Qualifications
- Proficient in manual and automated underwriting methodology
- Knowledge of Conventional and GSE loans
- Knowledge of compliance documents
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills essential
- Able to complete tasks on time, with great accuracy, and attention to detail
- Outstanding time management and ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fastpaced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Superior customer and associate service
- Proven aptitude to work in both a team and individual environment while maintaining confidentiality
- Proficiency with computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Internet Browsers, and email functions
- 5-10 years mortgage banking industry experience
- 2-5 years of regulatory compliance
