Role Description The Assistant Coach role at Playfit Kids is a part-time, on-site position located in South Miami, FL. The Assistant Coach supports lead coaches in delivering engaging sports and fitness sessions, including setting up equipment, organizing drills, and ensuring all activities are safe and age-appropriate. This role involves actively supervising children, reinforcing instructions, encouraging participation, and promoting good sportsmanship and teamwork. The Assistant Coach helps with attendance, parent communication as needed, and basic program logistics before and after sessions. The position requires consistent punctuality, a professional and friendly demeanor, and the ability to work afternoon, evening, and/or weekend shifts as scheduled.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or youth in sports, education, recreation, or similar settings, with a focus on safety and inclusive participation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic sports skills, fitness activities, or physical education principles, and the ability to lead warm-ups and simple drills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including clear instruction, active listening, and a positive, encouraging coaching style.
- Dependable, organized, and able to follow program plans, support lead coaches, and manage time and equipment effectively.
- Ability to remain attentive and calm in active environments, with sound judgment in supervising groups and responding to minor issues or conflicts.
- Comfort working on-site in a physically active role, including standing, running, lifting light equipment, and participating in activities.
- Prior coaching, camp counseling, or youth mentoring experience is preferred; CPR/First Aid certification and familiarity with child-safety guidelines are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or training in kinesiology, education, child development, or coaching is beneficial.
