What are the responsibilities and job description for the AI Sports Founder-in-Training Program position at Playbook Sports?
Playbook Sports · New York City · Academic-Year Internship (for credit) → Full-Time Offer upon Graduation (May/June)
Open to NYU and Columbia master's students
About Playbook Sports
Playbook is building the AI platform for sports and recreation businesses. Leagues, clubs, facilities, camps, and youth sports organizations run on Playbook to handle registration, payments, scheduling, communication, and operations, so the people running them can spend less time on admin and more time on the game.
We believe sports change lives. For most of us, sports taught us how to compete, how to lose, how to show up for teammates, and how to keep going when it's hard. The organizers, coaches, and operators who make that possible deserve the best tools in the world, and we're building them.
Our Values
- Team first. We win together. No ego, no "not my job."
- Outwork the problem. We're hardworking, driven, and persistent. We don't stop at the first no.
- Act like an owner. We take initiative, see things through, and hold ourselves accountable for results.
- AI-native by default. We use AI to do the work that used to take a team of five, and we build systems that compound.
- Believe in the mission. We care deeply about the organizers, coaches, families, and athletes we serve.
About the Program
The AI Sports Founder-in-Training Program is not a typical internship. You'll own real outcomes from day one, work directly with our leadership team, and build the skills of an early-stage founder: shipping fast, using AI as leverage, and driving revenue and impact. The program runs during the academic year for academic credit, and top performers will receive a full-time offer starting upon graduation in May or June.
Who we're looking for:
- Current master's students at NYU or Columbia (MBA, MS, and other graduate programs welcome)
- Self-starters who can take a goal and run with it without being told every step
- Team players who are hardworking, driven, and persistent
- People for whom sports have been a big part of life, as an athlete, coach, organizer, or fan, and who believe in the power of sports to change people's lives
- Genuine excitement about AI and how it changes the way work gets done
Compensation: Unpaid, for academic credit, with a path to a full-time role upon graduation.
