Position Summary
Play Academy is seeking an energetic, engaging, and motivating Water Aerobics Instructor to launch and lead a new program at Brookfield at Ontario Ranch. This is a great opportunity for an instructor who is excited to build and grow a class from the ground up while creating a fun, low-impact, and welcoming fitness experience for residents.
Key Responsibilities
Lead structured water aerobics classes in alignment with Play Academy programming standards
Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and verbal cues to ensure safe and effective movement
Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive class environment for all fitness levels
Modify exercises to accommodate varying abilities and physical limitations
Ensure participant safety and proper use of pool space
Track attendance and communicate updates, feedback, and growth opportunities to management
Actively contribute to building class participation and program success
Represent Play Academy in a professional and positive manner at all times
Compensation
60/40 revenue split of all registration fees (instructor receives 60%)
Opportunity to grow earnings by building class participation and expanding programming
Independent Contractor Status (1099)
This role is classified as a 1099 Independent Contractor position
Contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and certifications
Schedule is flexible and based on class demand and instructor availability
Qualifications
- Current Water Aerobics or Group Fitness Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
- Prior experience teaching water aerobics or group fitness classes preferred
- Strong communication, motivational, and participant engagement skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
Physical Requirements
Ability to demonstrate and lead water fitness routines for extended periods
Comfortable performing movements such as walking, jogging, jumping, and resistance exercises in water
