Be Part of Something Special from Day One

Play Street Museum Leawood is opening soon, and we're looking for incredible people to join our founding team!

This is a unique opportunity to help launch a brand-new children's museum and shape the experience families will remember for years to come. As one of our very first team members, you'll play an important role in creating a welcoming, engaging, and memorable environment where children learn through imaginative play while families create lasting memories together.

We're not just hiring employees—we're building a team of people who genuinely love working with children, take pride in their work, and believe that the smallest details make the biggest difference.

Success in this role comes from bringing energy, positivity, attention to detail, and genuine care to every interaction with our guests.

If you're someone who naturally notices what needs to be done, enjoys creating joyful experiences, and loves making people feel welcome, we'd love to meet you.

About Play Street Museum

Play Street Museum is a clean, upscale children's museum designed for children ages 8 and under. Through imaginative play, creative learning, crafts, and hands-on experiences, we provide a place where children can explore while parents slow down and enjoy making memories together.

As a locally owned family business, our mission is to create a space where every family feels welcomed, valued, and excited to return.

What You'll Do

Every day is a little different, but your mission is always the same: create an exceptional experience for every family who walks through our doors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcome every guest with warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality
  • Engage children through imaginative play and interactive activities
  • Lead crafts and creative projects that inspire imagination
  • Assist with pottery painting experiences and prepare pottery for glazing, kiln firing, labeling, and pickup
  • Host unforgettable birthday parties and special events
  • Set up and reset party space, craft stations, and play areas
  • Build relationships with returning families and help every guest feel welcomed and valued
  • Keep the museum exceptionally clean, organized, and inviting throughout every shift
  • Restock supplies and maintain exhibits with exceptional attention to detail
  • Answer phones/emails and assist guests with reservations, admissions, and retail purchases
  • Open and/or close the museum following daily procedures
  • Work together with teammates to create a positive, supportive, and fun environment

Who Thrives Here

We're much more interested in finding the right people than someone with the perfect resume.

Our best team members are people who naturally take ownership, notice the little things, and enjoy making someone's day a little brighter.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Love working with young children
  • Have a consistently positive attitude
  • Take pride in doing things the right way—even when no one is watching
  • Notice when something needs to be cleaned, organized, or restocked without being asked
  • Enjoy making people feel welcomed and valued
  • Are dependable, punctual, and trustworthy
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Bring kindness, energy, and enthusiasm to every shift

Attention to detail is one of the most important qualities we're looking for. Whether you're setting up a birthday party, preparing a craft station, firing pottery, or making sure the museum is spotless before families arrive, the little things matter here.

We believe every child should leave with a smile, every parent should feel genuinely welcomed, and every visit should be even better than the last. If you're someone who takes pride in creating those kinds of experiences, you'll fit right in.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Experience working with children is preferred (daycare, preschool, nannying, camps, babysitting, coaching, education, etc.)
  • Customer service, hospitality, or retail experience is a plus
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-first attitude

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position. Applicants should be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequently bend, kneel, squat, and reach
  • Lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing throughout each shift

Schedule

This is a part-time position averaging 5–15 hours per week.

Applicants should have availability for:

  • Weekday mornings
  • Weekday afternoons
  • At least one weekend day
  • Birthday parties and occasional special events

Reliable attendance is essential.
