Play-Place Autism Center is seeking a licensed, patient, professional, and talented hairstylist to join our Haircut Hut—a unique sensory-friendly haircut experience designed specifically for children, teens, and adults with autism and other special needs.
This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with families, has a calm and compassionate demeanor, and wants to make a genuine difference in their community while enjoying a flexible schedule.
No experience working with special needs is required—we will provide guidance and support. What matters most is your patience, professionalism, and willingness to create a positive experience for every client.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality haircuts in a safe, welcoming, sensory-friendly environment.
- Help clients feel comfortable through patience, encouragement, and flexibility.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the workstation and equipment.
- Communicate professionally with families and team members.
- Represent Play-Place Autism Center with kindness, respect, and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Current Michigan Cosmetology License.
- Excellent haircutting skills.
- Friendly, patient, and compassionate personality.
- Professional appearance and dependable attendance.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with our team.
- Experience with children is a plus, but not required.
- Experience with textured hair is also a plus, but not required.
