Prep Cook/Cook

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook/Cook to join our childcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals in accordance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines, ensuring the safety and well-being of children through proper food handling and preparation. This role requires a passion for healthy cooking, adherence to food safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Prepare and cook meals that meet CACFP guidelines for children in a childcare setting.
• Follow standardized recipes and meal plans to ensure consistency and nutritional quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and supplies.
• Ensure all food is prepared safely, adhering to food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
• Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and rotating stock as needed.
• Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal times and ensure timely service for children.
• Monitor food temperatures and quality throughout preparation and serving processes.
• Support the overall cleanliness of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in food preparation or cooking, preferably in a childcare or similar setting.
• Knowledge of CACFP guidelines for nutritious meal planning and preparation.
• Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong understanding of food safety practices and sanitation standards.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while managing multiple tasks.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or menu requirements.

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
