What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager in Training position at Play It Again Sports?
Hours per week: 28-32 hours
Play It Again Sports, Minnetonka is looking for a Manager in training to provide excellent customer service, sharpen ice skates, buy product, lead staff and find the right sporting goods products for our customers. Candidates with strong communication skills who can make customers feel welcome in our store will stand out. You will help identify customer needs, present and answer questions about our products and services and recommend solutions. A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential customer issues or complaints will make you successful in this role.
Responsibilities
- Greet and direct customers
- Provide accurate information (e.g. product features, pricing and after-sales services)
- Answer customers’ questions about specific products/services
- Cross-sell products
- Cashiering
- Tagging and stocking merchandise
- Provide excellent customer service
- Stay up-to-date with new products/services
- Staff supervision
- Shift lead management: allocation of staff to correct roles and break management.
- Assists in the staff evaluation and feedback process.
- Appraisal and pricing of used sporting goods. Leadership acquisition of used sporting goods culture and processes.
- Reports to Store Manager
- Opening and Closing duties of store and registers
Requirements:
- Strong leadership and independent planning ability
- Friendly helpful disposition that promotes our buy, sell, trade concept and invites customer retention and repeat business
- Must be 18 years of age
- Skate Sharpening (will train)
- Promote customer service by greeting the customer immediately, determining their needs, and finishing the transaction in an enthusiastic and professional manner
- Gains familiarity with products, features, benefits, and prices for making recommendations best suited to the customer’s needs. Maximize sales and customer satisfaction by adding additional items for sales.
- Ability to maintain store housekeeping and maintenance standards and procedures.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and ability to plan and schedule for the future needs of the store. Willingness to cover shifts if needed.
- Ability to lift 30lbs and climb step ladders unassisted
- Maximizing sales and customer satisfaction by adding additional items to the sale
- Returns/exchanges/writing of checks for used purchases
- Basic computer skills-word, excel email
