Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, customer-focused Retail Assistant Manager to help lead daily operations and staff at our Play It Again Sports store. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of store performance—from sales and inventory management to team leadership and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise staff, store operations, including sales, merchandising, inventory control, and customer service initiatives
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure a positive, engaging in-store experience that drives repeat business
- Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and develop team members to build a high-performing and motivated staff
- Manage employee schedules, shift assignments, payroll, and performance evaluations
- Buy, price, and manage inventory of new and used sporting goods, including stock replenishment and inventory audits
- Implement effective in-store marketing and merchandising strategies to increase traffic and sales
- Monitor store performance metrics, analyze sales data, and apply retail math principles to meet or exceed sales goals
- Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and visual merchandising standards
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues professionally, and escalate concerns when necessary
- Utilize POS systems for transactions, cash handling, and reporting while maintaining strong cash control practices
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment through coaching, training, and leadership support
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures
- Help develop and run social media ads, campaigns and content.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 2 years of retail management or supervisory experience (assistant management experience preferred)
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus
- Experience with inventory management, merchandising, pricing strategies, and sales performance tracking
- Proficiency with POS systems, cash handling, payroll processing, and basic budgeting
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively
- Passion for sports, fitness, or outdoor activities preferred
- Experience buying and reselling used merchandise is a plus
- MUST BE ABLE TO STAND FOR LONG PERIODS OR TIME, LIFT UP TO 60LBS, USE A LADDER
- MUST BE WILLING TO WORK NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS
