Job Description
Qualifications: Instrumental Music Paraprofessionals will hold a High School Diploma or GED. Will have a basic understanding of instrumental music and musical concepts.
Length of Contract and Hours: An Instrumental Music Paraprofessional will work up to 12 hours per week during the school calendar year.
Immediate Supervisor: The Instrumental Music Paraprofessional will report directly to the Building Principal.
General Job Description: The Instrumental Music Paraprofessional assists instrumental music teachers in creating a positive learning environment, facilitating student development, and maintaining the level of instrumental music programs. This role involves tasks like preparing materials, assisting with instruction, and supporting students’ musical growth. Their duties include helping with behavior management during lessons, tracking a student’s grades and behavior and setting up classroom materials before class. Paraprofessionals strive to form interpersonal relationships with each student to help them feel more motivated about classroom achievement.
Specific Job Functions:
- Assist Instrumental Teacher with instruction and feedback to students.
- Help with rehearsal techniques, performance practices, and musicality within ensembles or small groups.
- Prepare and distribute music materials.
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce instruction.
- Must possess excellent teamwork skills and the ability to remain calm and patient at all times.
- Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior.
- All other duties as assigned.
