Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Dispatcher role based in Elizabeth, NJ. The Dispatcher will coordinate daily truck movements, assign loads to drivers, and monitor routes to ensure on-time, compliant deliveries. Responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date schedules, communicating clearly with drivers, terminal staff, and customers, and updating internal systems with accurate status information. The role involves responding to delays or changes, optimizing routes and equipment usage, and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements. The Dispatcher will also support safety procedures, assist with load planning, and collaborate with operations leadership to improve efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications
- Logistics coordination skills, including route planning, load assignment, and schedule management.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with drivers, customers, and terminal personnel in a clear, professional manner.
- Proficiency with dispatch or transportation management systems, GPS tracking tools, and basic office software.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, problem-solve under time pressure, and make sound decisions in changing conditions.
- Knowledge of trucking operations, port or container terminal processes, and basic transportation regulations (e.g., hours-of-service) is preferred.
- Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping for loads, delivery times, and documentation.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work on-site in Elizabeth, NJ, including occasional extended or flexible hours as business needs require.
