Behavior Coach/Interventionist

Position Title: Behavior Coach/Interventionist
Schedule: 8 hours per day, Monday–Friday (while students are in session)

Position Summary

The Behavior Coach/Interventionist provides direct behavioral support and intervention services to students in a school setting. Working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families, this role helps promote positive student behavior, improve social-emotional skills, and support students in achieving academic success through evidence-based behavior intervention strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct behavioral support to students individually and in small groups.

  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and other behavior support strategies with fidelity.

  • Assist students in developing self-regulation, coping, communication, and social skills.

  • Monitor student behavior, collect data, and maintain accurate documentation of interventions and progress.

  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to promote consistent behavioral supports across settings.

  • Support students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities as needed.

  • Assist in crisis prevention and de-escalation using approved behavior management techniques.

  • Reinforce positive behaviors through evidence-based interventions and positive behavior support strategies.

  • Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development as assigned.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all district, state, and federal regulations regarding student records and services.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Behavioral Science, Social Work, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in a school, clinical, or community setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and/or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move throughout the school campus and classrooms.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and sit for extended periods.

  • Ability to respond quickly during behavioral crises and assist in implementing approved safety procedures when necessary.

  • Ability to lift or assist with lifting up to 50 pounds, if required by district policy.

Work Schedule
  • 8 hours per day

  • School calendar; services provided while students are in session.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, emotional/behavioral disorders, or other developmental disabilities.

  • Familiarity with data collection systems and behavior tracking.

  • CPI, Safety-Care, or other crisis prevention/de-escalation training is a plus.


$24-$30 with Experience
