Cyber Integration Engineer Job Description
Seeking highly skilled and versatile Cyber Integration Engineer to join the centralized Zero Trust Leadership Cell (ZTLC) supporting U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) on the EDAT innovation contract. These critical roles serve as the essential link between the Chief ZT Architect and the 12 Zero Trust Implementation Plan (IPlan) execution teams, ensuring the successful integration and implementation of the USSOCOM Zero Trust transformation (PoP through FY27).
The Cyber Integration Engineers are responsible for tackling complex cross-IPlan integration challenges, developing detailed architectural artifacts, and providing "surgical augmentation" (targeted, expert-level engineering support) to engineering teams to overcome technical roadblocks. You will ensure that the strategic architectural vision is translated into cohesive, implementable solutions across the enterprise, including specialized SOF tactical environments. This position directly maps to the DoD 8140 Systems Security Engineer (Work Role ID: 651) Senior level, requiring broad technical expertise across multiple cybersecurity and IT domains.
Responsibilities
As a Cyber Integration Engineer within the ZT Leadership Cell, you will:
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between the Chief ZT Architect and the 12 IPlan execution teams, ensuring alignment with the enterprise ZT Reference Architecture.
- Analyze and resolve complex cross-pillar integration challenges (e.g., integrating ICAM solutions with Network Segmentation policies and Data Access controls).
- Develop and deliver detailed architectural and engineering artifacts, including integration patterns, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), sequence diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Provide "surgical augmentation" to IPlan execution teams to overcome implementation roadblocks, troubleshoot complex issues, and accelerate delivery.
- Ensure that Systems Security Engineering (SSE) principles (NIST 800-160) are applied throughout the system development lifecycle across all IPlans.
- Validate integration feasibility and design patterns across diverse environments, including multi-cloud (AWS, Azure), hybrid, on-premises, and specialized SOF environments (Tactical Edge and Disconnected, Intermittent, and Limited (DIL) bandwidth operations).
- Support the Chief Architect in conducting Architecture Review Boards (ARBs), technical deep dives, and solution validations.
- Contribute to the development of Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and decision support materials.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks related to system integration, interoperability, and dependencies.
- Evaluate proposed engineering solutions to determine the adequacy of the security design and ensure consistency with ZT principles.
- Develop and document integration test plans and procedures to validate the interoperability and security of the ZT architecture.
- Support the development of detailed transition plans for moving capabilities from the EDAT innovation phase to EOM sustainment.
Qualifications
Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: A minimum of twelve (12 ) years of progressive experience in IT/Cybersecurity, with at least 5 years focused on systems engineering, security engineering, or technical integration of complex enterprise systems within the DoD. Must have demonstrated experience across multiple technical domains. Experience supporting USSOCOM/SOF environments is highly preferred.
Certifications Required:
- Must possess an active DoD 8570 IASAE Level II certification (e.g., CASP CE, CISSP, CSSLP).
- Technical certifications in relevant domains such as Cloud (AWS/Azure Specialty), Networking (CCNP/JNCIP), or Identity (e.g., Okta, Ping) are highly valued.
Key Skills and Knowledge (Aligned with DoD 8140 KSATs for Systems Security Engineer - Senior):
- Broad technical expertise across multiple ZT pillars, including ICAM, Network Security (SDN, Segmentation), Cloud Security (AWS/Azure), Data Protection, and Endpoint Security.
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles (NIST 800-207) and the DoD ZT Reference Architecture.
- Proven experience in Systems Engineering processes, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, and testing.
- In-depth knowledge of Systems Security Engineering (SSE) principles (NIST 800-160) and the integration of security requirements into the system lifecycle.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues involving disparate technologies, APIs, and platforms.
- Skill in developing detailed technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, ICDs, and engineering plans.
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer networking concepts, protocols, and network security methodologies.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth, OIDC) and access control methods (PKI, MFA, ABAC).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify integration dependencies and risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse technical teams and advise senior architects and stakeholders.
