What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Programs position at Platinum Edge Tutoring?
About Us
Platinum Edge Tutoring is an NYC-based educational services company delivering academic programming, college access services, and workforce development to underserved youth in the 5 boroughs. We work inside schools as a trusted grant-funded partner — and we are growing.
Our programs sit at the intersection of where education is going and where the economy already is: artificial intelligence, the skilled trades, and everything in between.
The Role
We are looking for a Director of Programs who can do it all — manage programs, build partnerships, lead a team, and get in front of a room and deliver. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CEO.
You will oversee our full program portfolio, lead partnership development across multiple sectors, supervise staff, and help shape the strategic direction of the organization. You will also serve as Project Director select college access initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Oversee all program operations across school sites — quality, compliance, and outcomes
- Build and manage partnerships across four sectors: technology & AI, skilled trades, higher education, and workforce development/government
- Design and deliver professional development sessions and student-facing workshops independently
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and develop a team of program staff and advisors
- Manage federal grant compliance, reporting, and budget oversight
- Represent Platinum Edge externally at schools, convenings, and community events
- Partner with the CEO on strategy, growth, and new funding opportunities
What We're Looking For
- 5 years in program management, college access, youth development, or workforce development
- Proven experience building institutional partnerships from the ground up
- Experience managing and developing a team of direct reports
- Comfortable delivering PDs and workshops independently — no fear of "doing" the actual work
- Strong organizational skills; able to juggle multiple programs and deadlines
- Deep commitment to equity and experience serving low-income and/or first-generation youth
- Bachelor's required; Master's preferred
- Familiarity with AI tools!
Bonus points for:
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience with federally-funded grants (TRIO, 21CCLC, Title I, WIOA, or similar)
- Familiarity with workforce technology, or the digital economy
- Knowledge of the skilled trades, apprenticeship programs, or CTE pathways
- NYC DOE school experience or community-based organization background
Why Platinum Edge
- Senior role with real authority and direct CEO access
- Active programs with established school relationships — you inherit momentum
- Work that spans a young person's full trajectory: from 9th grade to a career
- Competitive salary, hybrid flexibility, and room to grow
- A mission that matters
