Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
- Assist busy Plastic Surgery clinic with diverse patient types including pre-operative and post-operative cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients, assist in-office procedures including skin cancer reconstructions, cosmetic injectables (Botox, filler), and smaller scale cosmetic surgeries including (fat transfer, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, liposuction, radio frequency/micro needling and hair transplantation).
- Phlebotomy for PRP procedures.
- Escort patients to and from the exam room, help them prepare for the exam/procedure, gather and chart intake history, scribe the office visit, and enter prescriptions into the EMR.
- Perform injections, suture removals, and other patient treatments.
- Educate patients and respond to questions in the office/on the phone as needed.
- Document all medical instructions given to patients.
- Proper photos and consent for procedure completed.
- Clean and organize exam rooms, prepare procedure trays, clean and autoclave instruments, and stock supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
- Certification preferred (i.e., Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Dermatology Technician, Certified Surgical Assistant, etc.)
- Medical Assistant training is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medical office as a medical assistant.
- Prior plastic surgery, cosmetic, aesthetics, operating room, or office procedure experience is required.
Performance Requirements:
- Friendly, energetic personality with strong customer service skills
- Quality written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
- Knowledgeable of medical plastic surgery terms/CPT, ICD-10.
- Able to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others, patients, and co-workers.
- Able to prioritize tasks efficiently in a busy clinical environment, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
- Experience working on electronic medical records.

Equipment Operated: Surgical equipment, Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the manual dexterity to assist in surgical procedures, operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Includes handling of sharps and chemicals.
