What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU position at Platinum Center?
We are looking for a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a plastic surgery Peri-anesthesia/PACU RN. The responsibilities of the plastic surgery Peri-anesthesia/PACU RN include caring for patients in pre-op and recovery undergoing cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, helping patients to feel comfortable and safe in our surgical center. Also, if desired this nurse may be cross trained and oriented to be competent to assist with patient care in the OR's.
To be successful in this position, you should have knowledge of general surgery and cosmetic and reconstructive procedures is a bonus. Ultimately, this PACU RN should be kind, empathetic, flexible. and have an excellent bedside manner.

Plastic Surgery Nurse Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with team members to manage surgical center workflow and ensure excellent patient care. This includes escorting patients to pre-op, addressing questions and concerns and discharging patients to their car.
- Review patient health history, to give excellent and comprehensive hand off to the RN Circulator.
- Patient pre-screening assessment calls, review medical history, medications and psychosocial status before surgery. Education of the procedure and instructions are done at this call.
- Prepares the PACU before procedures and helps to keep the area clean, stocked and ready for the next day. Notifies the Director of Nursing of any low stock items.
- Monitors the patients before and after their surgeries, assuring patients are stable to be discharged within center guidelines.
- Collaborates with surgeons and other team members to ensure that patients understand the surgical procedures and policies.
- Completes all pre surgical authorizations and consents and does complete patient education for preop area and discharge area for every patient.
- Ensures patients and family fully understand side effects, and aftercare education.
- Handles patient's calls, document patient's concerns and ensures questions/concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Participates in a RN Quality and Safety Committee and helps gather data for this committee group.
- Helps manage surgical medications, garments, injectables, and medical supplies. Works with the team to ensure that PACU is stocked appropriately, and inventory is done daily.
- This position reports to the Director of Nursing.
Plastic Surgery Nurse Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- Registered nursing (RN) license in Michigan.
- Minimum of three years' experience as a PACU, Emergency Room or ICU RN.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Teamwork and a professional positive attitude while at work.
- Flexibility and the ability to help others to accomplish surgical center goals & help us provide outstanding patient care.
The shift start time is 9:00 am. Shifts are 8-10 hours, depending on surgical schedule.
This position is a permanent, part-time position, one day a week on Fridays.
