We work with lived cases, data, and legal context to document how platforms govern visibility, income, and access to redress – especially in the gig economy. Our goal is to turn scattered harm into a public record that enables accountability, policy change, and better governance.
Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a Journalist – Platform Accountability (Grant-Funded Reporting Partner). Remote Positon. The journalist will conduct in-depth research and investigative reporting related to platform accountability. Day-to-day tasks include writing news and feature articles, drafting press releases, and preparing high-quality, impactful reports. The individual will also collaborate with other teams, attend conferences or events, and engage in broadcasting or media appearances as needed.
This role begins as a volunteer, grant-seeking reporting partnership. Until external journalism funding is secured, applicants must be willing and available to contribute on a volunteer basis. We are looking for journalists who are actively interested in building investigative work with us while pursuing external funding (e.g., Pulitzer Center, Omidyar Network).
Qualifications
- Experience in writing, news writing, and creating press releases
- Proficiency in research and investigative reporting
- Broadcasting skills are a strong advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Familiarity with issues related to platform accountability is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- Experience working in fast-paced environments or newsrooms
