Plasvacc USA Inc is hiring for a part time Plasma Pheresing Technician.
Job Description
Essential Duties include:
- Collecting Plasma from a herd of donor horses
- Care of the donors (including vaccinating, worming, medical care as needed, other related horse care)
- Record keeping for the donor herd and serial records, both written and electronic
- Labeling of plasma
- Cleaning of production area(s) and equipment
- Manufacture of other equine blood products
- Assist in stocking supplies and maintaining the supply inventory
- Production of Gamma Check and Dynavet test kits
- Assisting with regular stocktake (inventory counting)
Other duties include:
- Feeding out alfalfa or other feed if needed
- Assisting with packaging of plasma for shipments
- Cross-training in other departments as needed
Hours:
- Part time-Must be available 3 days per week, 6:30am-3:00pm. (Training hours at hire may be slightly different for approximately the first month). Must be able to work overtime if needed and be available to assist on weekends occasionally. Weekend, holiday, and after hour shifts (on-call) are on a rotating schedule.
Applicants must:
- Have at least two years of solid horse experience and handling
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Veterinary Technician or Assistant Certificate/License is helpful, but not required.
- Be able to work in extreme weather conditions such as heat, wind, cold, and rain
- Be able to keep neat, accurate records and pay attention to detail
- Be able to understand written and verbal instructions
- Be able to work efficiently and complete tasks on time
- Work well with others as part of a team
- Be able to lift and move over 50lbs.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to lift and move over 50lbs.
- Able to work in varying climate, including very cold and very hot temperatures
- Repetitive hand motions
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Walk for extended periods of time, on uneven ground
- Lift, bend, squat, and reach
