Quality Inspector

Department: Quality
Reports To: Plant Manager
Classification: Hourly / Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished products to ensure they meet company and customer quality standards before being approved for shipment. The primary focus of this position is to identify defects, workmanship issues, damage, or other quality concerns before products leave the facility.

This position works closely with Production and Quality team members to ensure only products meeting established quality expectations are released to the customer.

Key Responsibilites

· Perform final inspections of finished products prior to packaging and shipment.

· Visually inspect products for defects including scratches, cracks, dents, discoloration, warping, trimming issues, surface imperfections, contamination, or other workmanship concerns.

· Verify finished products meet applicable customer specifications, drawings, samples, and quality requirements.

· Check critical dimensions and measurements using basic inspection tools such as tape measures, rulers, calipers, gauges, or other measuring equipment as required.

· Identify and clearly document nonconforming or questionable products.

· Place defective or nonconforming material on hold and communicate concerns to the appropriate Production and Quality personnel.

· Assist in determining whether products require rework, repair, additional inspection, or rejection.

· Complete required inspection records and quality documentation accurately.

· Communicate recurring defects or quality concerns to supervisors and the Quality Manager.

· Work with production employees to help identify quality issues before additional defective products are produced.

· Maintain an organized inspection area and properly care for inspection tools and equipment.

· Follow all company safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.

· Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Previous manufacturing or quality inspection experience preferred.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to identify small defects or inconsistencies.

· Ability to read and understand basic work instructions, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

· Ability to perform basic math and accurately read measurements.

· Ability to use basic measuring tools.

· Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with Production and Quality team members.

· Ability to make objective quality decisions and raise concerns when a product does not meet expectations.

· Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

· Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and move around production and inspection areas.

· Ability to lift and handle finished products as required by the position.

· Ability to visually inspect products closely for defects and workmanship concerns.

· Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment.

Salary : $40,405 - $51,498
