Production Engineer

About this Job

Reporting to the Plant Manager or Engineering Team Leader, this person is responsible for day-to-day application of production engineering concepts through continual interaction with a wide range of production staff.

This includes working on process improvements such as possible tooling modifications, examining methods improvements, and analysis of optimum operating conditions.

This position has a hands-on process improvement emphasis and will also involve opportunities for supervisory and leadership experiences.

Role Summary:

This person is responsible for day-to-day application of Production engineering concepts through continual interaction with a wide range of Team Members. This includes process improvements such as method improvements, equipment modifications, and creating optimum operating conditions all with a focus on risk reduction to Team Members. This position has a hands-on, highly interactive process improvement emphasis involving opportunities for supervisory and leadership experiences.

Accountable for:

• Demonstrates knowledge of the PI manufacturing process while contributing to our zero-injury goal safety culture.
• This position will be a key component of the site's 5S Program.
• Analyzes and recommends process improvements and manufacturing methods related to safety through structured methods such as job hazard analyses.
  • Prepares and evaluates the feasibility of machine design changescoordinates such modification projects while working closely with production.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and can troubleshoot these systems.
• Effectively communicates all aspects of our needs to equipment vendors/suppliers.
• Provides proposals for new equipment and improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
• Leads or is part of interdepartmental teams to improve safe working practices.
• Strives to optimize operating conditions and resolve problem areas for routine tasks.
• Delivers training.
• Selects, mentorsprepares intern projects.
• Displays standard operating procedure knowledge.
• Performs other special projects as assigned.
• Follows good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.

• Minimum Qualifications:

• This position requires a 4-year college degree with a major in industrial technology or engineering.
• In addition to formal educational background, this position will also require 1-2 years of practical experience within production to become well versed in specific thermoforming techniques.

  Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of standing work
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to frequently lift 15-25 lbs.
• Occasional repetitive tasks with the upper extremities
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry
• Attention to detail
• Ability to correctly wear and use personal protective equipment
