About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, technically proficient Process Engineer to join our custom machinery manufacturing team . This is a critical "bridging" role that sits between design and reality. You won’t just be sitting behind a desk; you will be in the lab helping to build machines, on the shop floor collaborating with technicians, and at customer sites ensuring successful installations.
This position is open due to an upcoming retirement, offering a unique knowledge-transfer period where you will work alongside a veteran engineer to learn our specific systems and the nuances of our custom extrusion machinery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Machine Commissioning & Installation: Travel to customer sites (30-40%) to oversee the installation, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of new extrusion lines.
- Customer Advocacy: Act as the technical face of the company, addressing customer issues and translating their needs into engineering solutions.
- Design & Revision: Manage drawing revisions and technical documentation to ensure custom machines meet exact specifications.
- Hands-on Lab Work: Support the manufacturing process in our on-site lab, working closely with the shop team to implement changes and verify machine functionality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the link between engineering, production, and purchasing to ensure projects are built right the first time.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (BSME preferred; Chemical Engineering considered).
- Experience: Proven background in machine building. Experience with extrusion machinery (specifically Conair brand) or plastics processing is a significant plus.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong engineering fundamentals. We are looking for a "doer" who can troubleshoot mechanical systems and perform drawing revisions.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and collaborating with shop floor personnel.
- Adaptability: Ability to handle the variety of working on almost entirely custom-built machinery.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $90K – $120K (Negotiable for top-tier talent).
