Extrusion Tooling Technician – day shift
Location: Near Akron, OH
Pay: $30-36 hr.
MUST have plastics experience. Profile extrusion preferred.
Our client is an industry leading plastics manufacturing seeking a Senior Tool and Die Technician. In this role, you will play a critical role in the assembling and optimization of tooling , as well as maintenance, fabrication, and design of precision tools and dies. This person will be closely involved in the production and operations process. They will work collaboratively with the head of Engineering and our production to improve productivity and efficiency as well as quality.
Responsibilities
- Disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, repairing/polishing, and reassembling extrusion dies, breaker plates, calibrators, vacuum tanks, and downstream tooling.
- Setting up and tearing down complete tooling packages for production runs, including installing dies, calibrators, sizing units, and adjusting for specific profile dimensions and tolerances.
-Design tools, dies, and fixtures using AutoCAD and Mastercam for extrusion machines.
-Must be experienced with die grinders, milling machines and lathes.
-Perform preventive maintenance, polishing, and minor repairs on dies and tooling to extend life and improve performance.
-Utilize GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) as needed.
-Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions.
Qualifications
-3 years plastics experience in tooling (profile experience preferred). TPV, PVC, TPU, HDPE, polypropylene, etc.
-Experienced with fabrication process and using hand tools/ tool production and stamping operations.
-Experience with welding techniques for tooling assembly.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Basic machining skills.
-Strong mechanical aptitude of extrusion tooling (dies, calibrators, etc.).
