Sales Estimator / Account Manager

Position Summary
Plastic Concepts, Inc. (PCI) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sales Estimator / Account Manager to support our growing portfolio of engineered laboratory containment and process equipment projects.
This individual will serve as the critical link between customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing by developing project estimates, managing customer relationships, maintaining CRM activities, and supporting business development efforts from initial inquiry through project award.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with exceptional customer service skills and has experience estimating custom-engineered products, fabrication projects, or industrial equipment. Success in this role requires the ability to understand customer requirements, collaborate with engineering teams, develop accurate cost estimates, and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Estimating & Quotation Development
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and formal quotations for custom-engineered projects.
- Review customer specifications, drawings, RFQs, and project requirements.
- Work directly with PCI engineers to develop project scope, design assumptions, labor estimates, and material requirements.

- Analyze material yields and fabrication requirements to ensure accurate project costing.
- Coordinate vendor quotations for purchased equipment and specialty components.
- Develop pricing strategies that support both profitability and customer value.
Product & Project Portfolio Support
Support estimation and sales efforts across PCI's broad portfolio including:
Laboratory Process Equipment
- High-purity mixing tanks
- Carboy fluid management systems
- Upstream and downstream bag tote systems
- CIP/SIP support equipment
- Soak tanks and cleaning stations
- Hose management systems
- Mobile process equipment
- Custom pharmaceutical and biotech workstations
Cleanroom & Specialty Solutions
- Pass-through chambers
- Vivarium equipment
- Animal transfer stations
- Containment systems
- Custom engineered laboratory infrastructure
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as primary point of contact for assigned customers and accounts.
- Manage existing customer relationships while supporting new business development initiatives.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the sales cycle.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate project updates between customers and internal teams.
- Support project handoff activities following order receipt.
- Conduct follow-up activities on active quotations and business opportunities.
CRM & Sales Pipeline Management
- Maintain accurate customer records and opportunity tracking within CRM.
- Document all customer communications, project updates, quotes, and sales activities.
- Track opportunity status and forecast potential revenue.
- Generate reports to support sales management and business planning.
- Manage customer follow-up schedules and opportunity progression.
Technical Collaboration
- Participate in project kickoff and discovery meetings.
- Work closely with engineering to understand:
- Design requirements
- Material selection
- Chemical compatibility considerations
- Manufacturing methodologies
- Project risks and assumptions
- Assist in developing project concepts and scope definitions.
- Support value-engineering efforts to improve competitiveness and project profitability.
Qualifications
Required
- 3 years of experience in estimating, technical sales, project management, or custom manufacturing environments.
- Experience with CRM systems and opportunity management.
- Demonstrated track record of outstanding customer service and account management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred
- Experience with laboratory equipment, cleanroom equipment, pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, or industrial process systems.
- Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, plastics, stainless steel equipment, or engineered products.
- Familiarity with ERP or estimating software.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, airflow, containment technologies, and laboratory operations.
